# Costs

> Map of planned cost, actual cost, and inventory valuation.

Costs explain how much you spend on purchasing, manufacturing, maintenance, and storage. Bold separates planned cost, actual cost, and inventory valuation.

<Info>
  Bold currently uses a single currency for all costs: euros (EUR). You cannot change the currency or perform calculations in multiple currencies.

</Columns>

## How they fit together

Planned cost estimates orders, recipes, and work before execution. Actual cost uses recorded consumption, lots, time, and employees. Their difference lets you analyze variances.

Inventory valuation applies the cost associated with each item's and lot's stock. See the pages in this group for sources, calculations, and required data.
