# Value inventory

> View the current value of stock by item, lot and location.

Use **Inventory valuation** to view the financial value of positive recorded stock, including reserved stock. Bold calculates it from those quantities and their lots' cost per unit.

## Data you can review

| Field | What it means |
| - | - |
| Total inventory value | Sum of the value of all positive stock quantities. |
| Item | Item being valued. |
| Location | Place where the stock is located. |
| Lot | Lot that provides the cost per unit. |
| Stock | Positive recorded quantity in the item's unit, including reserved stock. |
| Cost/unit | Lot cost per unit. |
| Total value | Stock multiplied by cost per unit. |

## How it is calculated

```text theme={null}
Line value = positive recorded stock × lot cost per unit
Total inventory value = sum of lines with positive stock
```

The lot's origin determines the cost used:

| Lot origin | Typical cost |
| - | - |
| Purchase | Purchase cost recorded at receipt. |
| Manufacturing | Actual manufacturing cost transferred to the produced lot. |
| Mixing or transformation | Cost derived from the lot's components. |
| Unknown origin | May remain unvalued until traceability is completed. |

## Review valuation

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Costs">
    Go to **Costs > Warehouse > Inventory valuation**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the total value">
    Use the total as a quick view of valued inventory.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Filter by item, location or lot">
    Locate the lines that explain the value you want to review.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the lot cost">
    Open the lot to review unit cost and components if the value does not match expectations.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete missing data">
    If a lot has no cost, review its origin: purchase, manufacturing, adjustment or temporary consumption.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Example

You have `80 units` of item `ENV-500` at location `A-01`. The lot has a cost of `€0.42/unit`.

```text theme={null}
80 x 0.42 = €33.60
```

If the same item has another lot at another location with a cost of `€0.47/unit`, Bold values each line using its own lot cost. This lets you see differences from purchasing, manufacturing or traceability corrections.

## Temporary lots and traceability

When materials are consumed without available stock, Bold may need to create temporary traceability. Those lots may remain unvalued or have a pending cost until stock is recorded that completes their origin.

<Warning>
  Do not treat the valuation as a finalized financial figure if there are lots without a clear origin, consumption awaiting traceability corrections or receipts without a cost.
</Warning>

## Common problems

| Problem | What to review |
| - | - |
| Total value seems low | Look for lots with zero cost or stock without a valued origin. |
| Two lines for the same item have different costs | Each lot retains its own cost. Review its origin, purchase or manufacturing. |
| Stock appears in valuation when you did not expect it | The table includes stock quantities greater than zero. Review the location and lot. |
| You cannot see inventory valuation | Review warehouse cost permissions. |
