# Launch your first MO

> Create a manufacturing request and turn it into your first manufacturing order.

An MO is the work the shop floor needs to do. You create it from a **manufacturing request**, which states which item you need and how many units. See [Manufacturing requests](https://docs.bold-factory.com/en/concepts/manufacturing/manufacturing-requests.md) to see how they relate.

## Steps

**1. Create the request**

Go to **Production > Production requests > Add new request**. Choose the item, enter a small quantity, for example `5`, and save.

**2. Create the MO**

Click the rocket icon action, **Launch production order**. Check that the recipe you activated appears and confirm.
