# Create pause reasons

> Define planned and unplanned reasons to classify production stops.

**Pause reasons** explain why an operation or group of operations stops. They can be planned, such as a break or shift change, or unplanned, such as a breakdown, missing materials, or a quality issue.

Recording the reason lets you analyze losses and recurring stops.

## Steps to follow

**Path:** **Production > Pause reasons > Add new reason**

**Name:** enter a short title that is easy to recognize on the pause screen. For example: `Lunch`, `Scheduled maintenance`, `Shift meeting`, or `Line cleaning`.

**Description (optional):** explain when to use the reason so the whole workshop follows the same criteria. For example: `30-minute break for the morning shift. Use only between 13:00 and 14:00.`

**Planned:** enable this checkbox when the pause is scheduled. Bold treats it as an organizational stop, so it does not penalize efficiency indicators (OEE) or count as a technical failure.

Leave it unchecked for unexpected events such as `Electrical fault`, `Raw material shortage`, or `Machine jam`.
