# Decide what to manufacture

> Distinguish real urgencies from suggestions that can wait, be grouped, or be discarded.

The **Production assistant** groups needs that can become manufacturing requests. Use it to review quantities and dates before generating manufacturing requests.

Configure the analysis period first. Then compare the proposal with delivery dates, expected stock, and the item's history.

## Review needs

  <Step title="Configure filters">
    Define how Bold should group needs:

    * **Production frequency:** choose daily, weekly, or monthly according to how you organize launches. This selection adjusts the summary to the chosen period.
    * **Include needs up to:** enter the last date to include in the analysis.

    <Tip>
      Extend the horizon to review future needs and assess whether to group identical items in one lot.

  <Step title="Identify urgent needs">
    Review the summary blocks before generating requests:

    * **Urgent:** gathers needs that already require attention. Review them first.
    * **This period:** shows needs for the current period.
    * **Next period:** helps you anticipate work for the following period.
    * **Future:** shows later needs included in the horizon.

  <Step title="Review the most urgent date">
    The **Most urgent** column shows the earliest deadline in the group of needs. Compare it with the total **Quantity** to decide whether to manufacture the entire group or launch a smaller lot first.

    For example, if the group totals 10 units but some are overdue, you can prioritize that quantity before manufacturing the rest.

  <Step title="Review the stock proposal">
    **Proposal** indicates the quantity calculated to cover the projected balance. Compare available and incoming stock with expected issues before accepting it.

    <Tip>
      The **Proposal** field is editable. Adjust the quantity to match your usual lot size or prepare additional stock.

  <Step title="Check history and forecast">
    Use the information at the bottom to validate the decision:

    * **Previous production orders:** compare the proposal with previously manufactured quantities.
    * **Stock forecast:** review how inventory will change with expected receipts and issues.
    * **Consumption history:** compare the proposal with recorded issues for the item.

    When quantities and dates are feasible, click **Generate request** to send the final quantity to manufacturing.
