# Change an order

> Edit a sales order's data and lines before completing its delivery.

Edit an order to correct its data or reflect a customer change without creating another document.

<Note>
  You can change a customer reference, correct an error or adjust a delivery date.
</Note>

## Edit the order

**Path:** **Planning > Sales orders > Order you want to edit**

From this screen, you can change:

* **Order no.**;
* **Customer order no.**;
* **Customer**;
* **Order date**;
* **Short description**;
* **Delivery instructions**;
* **Notes**.

Click **Save** after editing the header.

## Edit an order line

**Path:** **Planning > Sales orders > Order you want to edit > Item line**

To edit the requested, committed or target delivery dates, open the item line, make your changes and click **Save**.

If you need to change the item or quantities, manufacturing or purchasing may already have started. Use the line reset workflow to stop related work before applying the change.

    Change the item or quantities and save the changes.

    Click **Confirm** again so the line generates demand with the updated data.
