MCP connects your assistant to Bold so you can query information with everyday questions, without writing code. For example, you can ask it to find manufacturing orders or check an item’s stock.

Before you start

To connect your assistant to Bold, you need an API key. An administrator can create one in Control panel > Access > API keys. Create a different key for each assistant. This lets you revoke its access without affecting other connections. Keep these details ready during setup:
Use the full address shown in the table. This connection does not require you to sign in to Bold from the assistant.

Connect your assistant

1

Open MCP settings

In ChatGPT Desktop, go to Settings > MCP servers and select Add server.
2

Enter the Bold details

Enter Bold as the name, choose Streamable HTTP, and paste the server address. Add the X-Api-Key header with your API key as its value. If your settings screen does not offer headers, use Manual configuration below.
3

Save and check the connection

Save the server and select Restart. Open a local task and type /mcp. If bold appears as connected, setup is complete.
Open ~/.codex/config.toml. On Windows, it is at %USERPROFILE%\.codex\config.toml. This configuration also works with Codex CLI and the IDE extension.Add this block and replace API_KEY with your Bold key:
Save the file and restart the server in Settings > MCP servers.
These steps apply to local tasks in the desktop app. See the official MCP setup guide for other supported clients.
Treat the API key like a password: do not share it or store it in files other people can see. If you enter it in a terminal, it may be saved in your command history.

Try a query

Ask the assistant:
If the assistant returns information from Bold, the connection is working.

If it does not connect

To remove access, disable the corresponding key in Control panel > Access > API keys and remove the server from your assistant’s configuration.
