An employee represents a person who performs operational work. Use employees to record time, assign work, calculate labor costs, and analyze productivity. Not every employee needs a user account. Not every user needs an employee record.

What employees are used for

Users versus employees

Link a user and employee when a person accesses Bold and also records their own work.

Skills and usual workstations

An employee can have skills and usual workstations to help identify relevant production work. This helps work mode show relevant operations for that person. It does not grant application access permissions. See Skills and usual workstations to learn how they affect tasks and assignments.

Hourly cost

The hourly cost should represent the business cost you want to allocate. It can include gross pay, employer contributions, overhead, or the internal criteria you use for manufacturing and maintenance. If the hourly cost is missing, actual labor reports can be incomplete.
