Assign property values
Assign a value to each required family property. Depending on its configuration, the value can be a number, an option, text, yes/no or a date. The item is valid once all required properties are complete.Add an additional property (optional)
Add an additional property when an item has its own characteristic that should not apply to the entire family.Example: a T-shirt family requires Size and Color. If only one technical T-shirt needs a Breathability type, add that property to the item without changing the whole family.
Configure alternative units
In Alternative units, add the additional ways you work with the item and specify their precision and equivalence to the base unit. Alternative unit: select the corresponding unit you previously created in the catalog. Decimal places: set the number of decimals used to display quantities in the alternative unit. Enter0 to display whole units or 2 to display two decimals. This setting does not prevent fractional quantities.
Equivalence: enter two quantities, [quantity] [alternative unit] = [quantity] [base unit], as you would express the relationship. Both must be greater than zero.
Example: if a tub contains 5 kg of resin, define kilograms as the base unit, tubs as the alternative unit and the equivalence
1 tub = 5 kg. When you enter 10 tubs in a supported operation, Bold converts them to 50 kg. If 3 boxes make 1 pallet, enter 3 boxes = 1 pallet instead of a decimal factor.Choose the manufacturing and warehouse units
In the alternative unit table, select an alternative’s Manufacturing checkbox so manufacturing work mode displays the item in that unit. The Warehouse checkbox saves the preferred warehouse unit. Only one unit can be selected in each column. If you clear the checkbox, the preference returns to the base unit. Manufacturing work mode uses the manufacturing unit of the manufactured item and of each material or co-product. It displays converted quantities with that unit’s decimal places, and you enter recorded quantities in that unit. The rest of the application continues to display the base unit. If you delete an alternative selected as the manufacturing or warehouse unit, its preference returns to the base unit.Configure planning
On the Planning tab, you can view stock and configure procurement. Complete the relevant fields:- Reorder point: specify the stock threshold for replenishment to stock through purchasing or manufacturing.
- Minimum order: specify the minimum quantity you purchase or manufacture. For example, if you need 2 boards and the minimum order is
10, Bold proposes 10. - Lot size (optional): use this if you purchase or manufacture in fixed packs. For example, with lots of 6 boards, a requirement for 7 rounds up to 12.
- Procurement lead time (working days, optional): specify how long the item takes to become available from the start of purchasing or manufacturing. Bold uses this to calculate when procurement should begin.
