Path: Catalog > Properties > Add new Create reusable properties that describe your variants before adding many items. In Bold, a property represents a characteristic such as color, dimensions, material or finish. See Properties to learn how they relate to families and items. Name: identify the characteristic you want to record, rather than its specific value. For example: Height, Color, Width, Material or Diameter. Data type (value): a property can use free text, whole numbers, decimals, yes/no, option selection or date/time.
Example for an industrial fastener family
  • Material (options): carbon steel, A2 stainless steel, A4 stainless steel or brass (required).
  • Metric size (diameter): M4, M5, M6, M8, M10 or M12 (required).
  • Length (mm): numeric field (required).
  • Head type (options): hexagonal, Allen, cylindrical or countersunk.
  • Thread pitch (option): fine or standard.
  • Surface treatment (options): zinc plating, bichromate coating, bluing or untreated.
